My good friend Gwen is getting married this Saturday and she has, for better or worse, entrusted me with the task of creating her guest sign-in book. I still can’t decide which of the previous two facts is more exciting; all I know is she’s going to be a beautiful bride and I now have the perfect excuse to scratch my arts & crafts itch. Channeling my impulse to create things that embody unconventionality, I’m putting together a guest jar (instead of a book, because what do you seriously do with those things after the wedding anyways?) with notecards adorned with doves—her wedding theme—and Anthropologie catalog scraps, because I don’t believe that you should have to break the bank to create pretty things, and to commemorate Gwen’s penchant for the brand and celebrate her Euro-vintage style. Beyond the technicalities, though, being able to get my fingers sticky and create art with my hands again is like tapping into a part of my soul that has been sitting on the sidelines for the past year or so. My heart is invigorated and happy!
